We meet most on the first Monday of every month for a folk session – playing and singing traditional (and not so traditional!) tunes and songs in a friendly and supportive atmosphere, in a pub – namely, the Highbury Vaults (164 St Michael’s Hill).
Our intention is to provide a space where ‘beginners’, newcomers and the more experienced are all welcome. Any member can suggest or lead any tune!
We enjoy playing a range of tunes from the English, Irish and Scottish traditions, plus a few from further abroad. You can discover some of our regular tunes in our online tunebook but we are always ready to hear something new, whether tune or song! Sometimes we like to have a ‘theme’ for the week (and attempt the most tenuous of connections!) but people are free to play or sing what they want. If you don’t play or sing, just come along and listen.
Song Only Sessions
We also hold regular song only sessions. These are usually held on the last Sunday of the month (but sometimes not, so check in with us first and look out for announcements!) at the Highbury Vaults (164 St Michael’s Hill). We meet from 8 p.m. in the front room of the pub; take the door to the immediate right before going in the main entrance.
We have a Facebook group where you can meet members in advance and find the latest announcements. For further information, get in touch.
