We meet most Monday evenings for a folk session – playing and singing traditional (and not so traditional!) tunes and songs in a friendly and supportive atmosphere, in a pub.
We enjoy playing a range of tunes from the English, Irish and Scottish traditions, plus a few from further abroad. You can discover some of our regular tunes in our online tunebook but we are always ready to hear something new, whether tune or song! Sometimes we like to have a ‘theme’ for the week (and attempt the most tenuous of connections!) but people are free to play or sing what they want. If you don’t play or sing, just come along and listen.
Where and when?
Currently we meet on Monday evenings from 9 p.m. in the Coach and Horses, Highland Square, off Blackboy Hill, Clifton (map here). Our intention is to provide a space where ‘beginners’, newcomers and the more experienced are all welcome.
We also hold regular song only sessions. These are usually held on the first Sunday of the month (but sometimes not, so check in with us first and look out for announcements!) at the Highbury Vaults, 164 St Michael’s Hill (map here). We meet from 8 p.m. in the front room of the pub; take the door to the immediate right before going in the main entrance.
